Climate overview

Stockholm stands at 59° north where Lake Mälaren flows out into the Baltic Sea, yet maritime influence leaves it surprisingly mild for its latitude. The climate is humid continental bordering on oceanic (Köppen Dfb): summers are pleasantly warm, winters are cold but often hover near freezing rather than plunging far below, and snow lies on the ground for much of the season.
