Climate overview

Philadelphia lies at the northern edge of the humid subtropical zone (Köppen Cfa) and is one of the cooler examples of that climate. Set in the Mid-Atlantic between the Atlantic coast and the interior, it has four clearly marked seasons: hot, muggy summers, mild spring and autumn, and moderately cold winters — noticeably colder and snowier than most cities of its climate type.
