Climate overview

Kraków lies in a lowland basin in southern Poland near the Tatra Mountains, the northern edge of the main Alpine arc, with a humid continental climate (Köppen Dfb) that borders on oceanic. Its position where Atlantic, Arctic and continental air masses converge makes for highly variable weather — a warm spring morning can precede a late snowfall, and the city can swing between maritime mildness and sharp continental cold within days.
